In conjunction of this year’s celebration, The Monetary Authority of Singapore is proud to present the Singapore 44 Years of Independence Commemorative Coins. Drawing inspiration from the 2009 National Day Parade theme, “Come Together – Reaching Out, Reaching Up”, the coin features silhouette images of a man and a woman taking the pledge before the Singapore flag to symbolize the coming together as “one united people”, to support one another regardless of “race, language or religion”. Also featured are five stylized human figures reaching up into the sky towards Singapore’s hopes and aspirations.
